Beloved of cruise visitors, this rail route begins in the village of Flåm, with the station located close to where 127 cruise ships docked last year.

Surveys for Flåm Line began in 1893, with plans approved in 1916. Construction began in 1923 and tracks were laid from 1936. Passenger services started in 1941.
